1 Peter 2:10
"Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God's people. Once you received no mercy; now you have received God's mercy.”
Many people build their identity in things such as: family, friends, beliefs, careers, possessions, themselves, etc.. Before I accepted the Lord, I built my identity by the approval of others. It was so bad that I didn’t make a move or decision on my own. I was so consumed with how others felt about me. Not a smart way to live your life.
If our identity is not in “JESUS”, we will have an “identity crisis.” After I accepted The Lord, I wanted my identity to be in Him. I needed a dramatic transformation. I submitted my entire life to Him. I asked The Lord to completely rebuild me. I learned that God's love and approval was all I needed. He filled me with His love and His validation. He healed my wounded heart. He took all the broken pieces and mended them.
Whenever I serve today, I don't do it for approval or how people make me feel. I do it because I love them and I desire to serve My Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. If you feel like you may have an “identity crisis” like I did, all you need to do is call upon The Lord. He is faithful. He will take your broken pieces and make something beautiful out of them. Ask The Lord to give you, “His identity.”
