Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
James 5:16
One of the greatest things we can do as God’s people is pray. Prayer changes things! Prayer is absolutely essential for every follower of Jesus. I’ve spoke with many Christians that have told me that they don’t know how to pray. The first thing I tell them is to read:
Matthew 6:9-13
“This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
The second thing is: Just talk to God like you would talk to your best friend. My mentor once told me he would take 2 chairs & face them toward each other & imagine Jesus seating in one of them. He said it helped him learn to talk to God.
Just remember elegant speaking doesn’t move the heart of God. A pure & contrite heart does. Be yourself. Tell the Lord how much you love & desire Him in your own words. Speak from your heart! Bare your soul! Share with The Lord all your wants, needs, desires & yes even your shortcomings. He loves when we come to Him & ask for His Will to be done in our lives.
As we humble ourselves, lay at His precious feet & pray, He will pour out His love, wisdom & direction for our lives. As you pray, never be in a hurry. Love on The Lord & let Him love on you. A consistent prayer life will strengthen & build a more intimate relationship with our beautiful Creator! How precious is intimacy with God!
Ephesians 6:18
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
Matthew 18:19
Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.
